A Travel Journal ~ London & Paris 2007

It’s been a little hectic around the studio this week ~ some work, some personal.  My mother and I realized that we had enough frequent flyer miles to go to Paris and the Euro is down, so we’re off in a few weeks!  I am very excited as it is my favorite city in the world.

Since my mother & I were there around this time last year, I had planned to share this photo travel journal some time this week, so the timing is perfect.

I used photos taken by both myself and my mother and combined them with some Dover clip art frames & borders and a watercolor background then added a little text here and there.  I uploaded my finished files to Shuttterfly.com and had them printed out on glossy paper and bound in a leather hardcover book with a die-cut window on the front.  It was a lot of work, but the end result was well worth it.  I presented it to my mother as a Christmas gift.

I hope this inspires you to what is possible when you combine a variety elements ~ your photos, some clip art and the internet!

*Please note that the only photograph that was not taken by my mother or myself is the one of the Yomens and the raven.  I would credit the photographer if I knew who it was!

I think the thing I am looking forward to most (besides those wonderful cafe crémes in the morning) is taking loads of photographs!

This is really wonderful BJ…and I was so excited to see the Sherlock Holmes cafe…we have been there a number of times as well, because we stayed at a really nice B and B around the corner from there on 3 of our trips to London, and would walk over there to get something to eat.

The photos look great and the layouts are so nice…you will have a wonderful time…makes me want to go again as well…
nice to catch up today and I am saving the January 9th for dinner with you in Atlanta…

thanks again for the tip on the hotel!

    best,
    carol

wow, wish I was going, but we will not be going anywhere for awhile. We are riding out this economy storm like the rest of the country. Did you know that Shutterfly makes bound books? My friends did one for their brother’s 40th! I have yet to use Shutterfly, one day when I get my act together! Awesome job on the book by the way. Have a great trip!

what an awesome treasure to have always…so much better than that old tradition of boxes of photos waiting to go into an album someday, or worse, living in a file in the computer waiting to be printed or even looked at! I sure have lots of both…sigh!
Have a GREAT time and I’ll be looking forward to seeing this year’s pictures (and inspirations)!
