Squam Art Workshops
I am too excited. Thanks to seeing this mentioned on Lizzy House’s blog, I recently registered for this workshop in September 09 (they have one in June also) and I don’t know how I am going to contain myself until September!
Despite the fact that I have wanted to do something like this for a long time and know I’ll be just fine, I am slightly nervous. It has more to do with how I work than anything…I am rarely a “jump in and do it” artist; I’m more of a “circle it for a while, then throw it back to my subconscious to work on” gal. But that is part of why I want to do this ~ to get me to work outside my comfort zone which will surely lead me in new creative directions.
How do you work? Do you just grab your paintbrush, mouse, stylus, whatever and work, or do you have to think about it? Another way? Tell me all about it.

I usually grab my sketchbook and sit in bed and think about some ideas I want to try out….I just work in pencil and ink and just let things roll…these exercises help get me inspired for my next project….when I am working on a book…I usually do the same…but create a whole story board to watch how the pages un-fold….but like you I like to think about stuff instead of just jumping in….but every once and a while I just go wild….
Have a wonderful day!!!

wow this looks like a great experience…good for your artistic soul!
I think of myself as a dive-right-in person when a piece hits me and needs to be created…but for it to hit me, I guess I need to have sketched and noodled and played with an idea for a long time…and everything else needs to be just right (sounds, smells, workspace clutter/neatness, time since last meal, hydration level, time of month…LOL) so I wonder how I’d do in a situation like this…?
Still it sounds super fun and inspiring!
