Give Away! Give Away!

tresbelle_giveaway.jpg

About high time for a giveaway ~ of some of my fabric!  This is my Très Belle design for Studio E Fabrics and I am giving away a complete set of fat quarters (one of each pattern).  But there’s a rule for your comments to be eligible….read on:

The amazing gal who gave me a few sewing lessons lives in a condo with a great view of the river.  It is very small, so in order for her to accommodate all her sewing paraphernalia, she had to turn her only bedroom into her studio and installed a Murphy bed (unless it was pulled down, you’d never know the room was used for sleeping).

I remember thinking when I first saw it, How dedicated to her craft!  Then I thought ~ I could never just turn the light off and sleep in the middle of a chaotic studio.  The unfinished project(s) and lingering creative energy would call to me and leave me lying awake feeling unsettled.  I also saw a bedroom studio in one of the magazines that was more studio than sleeping space.

So here’s what you have to leave a comment about to be eligible to win Très Belle:

Do you think you could sleep peacefully amidst all your unfinished projects?  If the answer is yes – why?

And here’s another twist….I don’t know how long I will leave this giveaway open ~ maybe for a couple days, maybe a week….so get busy typing!

No Way!!!! On the rare occasion that I don’t make my bed in the morning, I have to make it before I get into it to sleep at night!

Depends. If I was really tired, I doubt I’d care.

Hi BJ….there is no way I could sleep with all kinds of projects sitting around….I like to start something and keep going till it’s finished…then I move onto the next project…..I like having my bedroom be my bedroom for sleep and some art if I drag it in there….but once I finish it …it goes back to the studio so I can sleep…..

Your fabirc is amazing and I can only imagine what some lucky winner will create with it….oh you should also stipulate that they post something that they make with it….now that would be fun!!!!

    Hugs

this is an easy one! yes! have you seen my studio? well its not super messy but over the years I have learned to not to sweat the small stuff, with little kids around all the time its impossible to have a super clean house, so naturally I had to adapt to my children. I would eventually have to clean it up but if I was working hard on something it would naturally not bother me. You should see my house when I get ready to go to Surtex- complete mess- I only have time to do what I need for the show and deal with it all when I get back. So there you go- although my bedroom now is not a mess I could deal with it if I had to for the sake of the project!

I always sleep amongst my unfinished projects. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’m going to die with a pile of unfinished. Every so often I’ll drag them out and cross them off the list… but mostly, I’ve got a revolving cycle of unfinished. Having said that, though, I do always keep paper/sketchbook by me so the mind-racing doesn’t stop me from sleeping well.

  6. Sharon Hermens Says:

No, I wake up nights thinking of all I need to do wether it be in my art/craft projects or my home (cleaning, laundry…you get the picture). I wake up sweating and no more sleep till do something to make me feel like I’ve accomplished something. Love your blog.

I couldn’t sleep in the same room with my studio. I’m too messy. I can’t imagine having all those bits and pieces, art supplies, overflowing bulletin boards around me as I sleep. Since I’m blind as a bat without my glasses/contacts, I couldn’t really see it all, but I’d know that it’s there.

Oh! Lovely fabrics! really nice. Are we old because we don’t twitter? maybe we are just busy and have common sense (oops! did I actually type that!?) Anyway Pick me! haha! And I have a bedroom studio…in a past life…I say take a sleeping pill, get some rest and start again tomorrow!

It’s been a while since I had time to do a little blog surfing . . . I didn’t know you had done a fabric line! Congratulations!!!! Love that yellow and black colorway . . . but I’d really like to play with the whole fat quarter collection also. So, could I sleep amid my chaos? Probably just as well as not . . . it actually might be comforting to be surrounded by all my favorite things. If I have a project in progress I’m usually taking it to bed in my head anyway, so the room wouldn’t really matter as much as the project. If you are ever looking for a pattern designer – let me know! – Marlene

first of all, I am loving these designs…really pretty…it’s just all so fresh and sunny and lemony (sorta Floridian I must say) it makes me happy, like a sunny day.

way back in the age of the dinasaurs I lived in a studio apartment with a murphy bed…I was in art school then and much messier in my youth than I am now (hah, oh so grown up and neat and tidy…not). My drawing table was only a foot or 2 from my bed and there were usually projects spread out across the other table too(another couple feet further away) but as much as my clutter (creative or otherwise) annoys me, it has always taken more than a mess to keep me from sleeping!

if I remember correctly, the only real negative to this setup was my cat walking across a palette with wet paint, then hopping straight onto my pillow.

OMG!!!!!!! This is just too gorgeous for words.
I can’t answer the question because I did not have a good nights sleep and the brain is not working.
I can say WOW this is stunning!!

  12. Gina Rivas Says:

    Love the collection!
As for sleep…of course I can sleep. I did if for years living in a studio in Astoria, Queens as a freelance artist. One look at all of my unfinished work would actually make me go right to sleep with hopes of doing it after I rested. Fortunately now I have a separate art studio which is much easier because at least when it is time to go to sleep I just close the door instead of having to push everything to the side to make room to lay down!

  13. Franchelle Says:

BJ, your new fabric collection is Très (very) beautiful.
You also look adorable in your new apron. Take Care!

  14. Anika Says:

Love this collection! What is sleep again?

  15. Brenda Pinnick Says:

HI BJ- When we lived in TX I had to paint in my bedroom, the easel was set up in a corner next to a t.v. tray where my paints sat. It drove me crazy. I couldn’t stand having my bedroom by my studio, like you, I could never sleep. I create all night long in my sleep anyway and having my stuff there would be too much! LOVE your new fabric line, it’s beautiful!

  16. Shanda Estwick Says:

I would absolutely be able to sleep. Each day I learn that cultivating peace is essential for life. Sleep is a God-given blessing allowing us to be refreshed for the next day’s journey…and during this slumber it enables juices of imagination to evolve the previous day’s busywork into wonderful expressions of creativity. No, my problem is once I am rested knowing how to focus and bottle all the ideas that spring forth! Your wonderful fabrics open a never ending fountain just waiting to be utilized!
