Wedding Gift Ideas

June is the month for weddings. Do you have a standard wedding gift? Do you just stuff a check or some cash into a card and call it done? Or do you look for creative ideas? If you have a wedding (or two) to go to this summer, perhaps these ideas might be of use. While the gift itself might not be a new idea, combining a special note with it elevates the ordinary to thoughtful.

Give a striking small pitcher with the following note:
What a clever little pitcher this is…
…pretty enough to
pose in just the right spot…
…nifty for orange juice
for breakfast in bed…
…just right for water
on a table for two…
…inspiration to create
the perfect martini…
…an impromptu vase
for floral surprises…
…we hope you enjoy it for
all of the above and more!
All the happiness in
the world to you both.

Give a beautiful bamboo cutting board, a fabulous cookbook, or any kind of nice kitchen item, with the following note (credited to the Dali Lama):
Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
Give a unique photo frame. The following note is one that I have used, because it was true to my situation.
Use it as a jumping off point to modify for your own use.
When we got married, we received
twelve frames – all of them different.
We started a frame menagerie on our foyer table
and it has since grown up the wall.
Here is our contribution to your menagerie.
We’re certain you’ll have no trouble filling it
and all the others you’re sure to
receive with special memories.
All the happiness in the world to you both
in creating those memories.
Don’t forget ~ the Très Belle fat quarter give away is still open…

you think you have frames and pictures, wait until you visit me girl, I am the queen of frames….they are everywhere.
cute idea for weddings. ours was in the fall when the leaves were full of color and everything was gold and crimson, just such a New Englandy time to get married…a little snap to the air so it was not hot which I wouldn’t like on my wedding day…no sweating for this bride!

I’ve heard about adding an inspirational poem or note to wedding gifts, and I think it’s a cute idea. I think I might add something into the gift I give my friend for her wedding, but finding the perfect gift is proving to be just as difficult as helping them find some Chicago Wedding Bands to play at their reception! Maybe I can get them multiple gifts, and one of them can be a cd from the band they picked to play. They can keep the CD and remember the music that was played at their wedding. A few more little gifts like that will probably be good-and appreciated!

I think that the verses you have written are beautiful and would make any gift all that more special! I will certainly start personalising all the gifts I give out like you have suggested. Thanks Kim xx
